Front derailleur adjustment question.

Hi.

I've been watching some videos on YouTube about front derailleur adjustment and I haven't been 100% successful following these.

In the video you start off on the smallest cog. I'm wondering how far in or out should the barrell connector be when you start the adjustment?

Cheers.

Any time I'm adjusting from scratch I have the barrel adjusters in the middle or just less than middle. That allows for movement in both directions.

So?This is an Indexing synchronization issue not the physical adjustments to the FD piece itself?

It depends a lot on the model of derailleur you're looking to adjust. For example, the procedure for adjusting a modern 2x11 Shimano front derailleur is quite a bit different than say a 2x10 front derailleur from 10 years ago. What brand, year and type (double or triple) front derailleur are you trying to adjust?

Screw the adjuster most of the way in first - you’ll need to screw it out to achieve sufficient tension on the cable after you have clamped the cable

Preferably, barrel adjuster 1/10 out with H & L adjusted to factory settings.
