Headset bearing angles, how do you read them.

Looking at replacing my non-sealed headset with something a bit better and am getting confused reading the bearings dimensions. The top one is 45x45 degrees so it's easy. The bottom one says 36x45 degrees. Is the crown race 36 degrees and the headset cup on the bike 45, or the other way around?

integrated headsets need to match bearing and machined headtube ,

weak on details.. too much unseen to reply factually ..

I have 1 bike with an integrated headset

bearing supplied through Cane Creek.. as is etched in the bearing cartridge itself..

every other uses pressed in bearing assemblies be they loose ball , roller or sealed bearing..

Hence why I'm asking. Not sure what more details you need. I'm giving the figures that are etched on the bearing and asking what they mean. I was hoping there was a standard "notation" for bearing angles.

I did figure it out I believe. According to FSA, the outside angle of the bearing is 45 degrees, and the inside is 36. That means the machined "cup" on my head tube is 45 degrees, and the crown race on my fork is 36 degrees.

I'm not a bike shop (or a search concierge),
just an old guy who gets a few hours in the summer working at one ..
was full time in the 80' s (now 30 years ago)

Have a favorite Bike shop to go to ?

Quebec city , Montreal ? where you bought the bike.. what was in it when you bought it ?

Interesting history

Yeah, it's called Amazon. LOL. It's sad but the bike shops around here don't carry much in terms of parts aside from the common stuff (brake cables, tubes, etc). 99% of the time, I go there, they need to order the part, promise to call me back and never do. I'm all for encouraging my LBS, but with service like that, I'll take care of myself!

Bezos has it in stock, gets it to me tomorrow morning, and will gladly take it back without yappin', which is already much better than the LBS around here.

Part ordered, case solved!
