you can put a V brake on a cantilever brake, posts but you have to put a U brake on the back ..

Or build 2 Drum brake hub wheels and ignore the rim brake fittings .

I don't see any problem in using the two different brakes the bike was designed for. But if that bothers you then find someone to remove one pair of OEM posts and install a new pair that matches the other pair. Andy
