Disc Brake Levers
Hi all.
My question is regarding brake lever compatability with disc brake systems.
The bike I'm looking to buy uses the Avid BBDB brake system. The brake levers on this bike are Shimano shifter/lever combo (https://bike.shimano.com/catalog/cycl...=1119563090990)
They are listed on the website as V-brake levers. Just wondering if these are acceptable for use with a full disc brake system? I've tested the bike and they seem to do the job of braking just fine, guess I'm just curious as to why they would be listed as V-brake levers rather than all purpose or Disc-compatible. What are some of the major (or minor) differences between the two systems?
If these are not acceptable, what would you recommend for this system?
Thanks a bunch!

Raiyn, not all hydraulic disc brake calipers come with brake levers.

I use a v-brake lever with my Avid BB7's and its fine. The only thing is that i suspect a lever designed for discs may have better control/modulation.

Awesome, thanks for all the replies.
After all this, I think I'm actually going to purchase a pair of Avid Speed Dial 7's. Had a chance to try them out at the LBS. Love the feel...and the slick looking design
Thanks again!
