Shimano Deore LX ST-M560 shifter replacement?

Hi!

What could be a replacement for the old left (3-speed) Shimano Deore LX ST-M560 shifter with from the 1990s (3x7)? The later ST-M565 version with indicator looks very similar - will it work? Any recommendations about some other options that can fit?

Thank you!
Andrey

depending on where you are, any triple mtb left shifter should work, and you should be able to find used ones in a used bike store or bike coop for very cheaply.
Luckily, the left shifters usually work well compared to the right shifters when we are talking old used stuff.

there are a gazillion old bikes with these shifters around, in garages etc, so finding something cheap that works shouldnt be a problem--unless of course you are in Outer Kazikstan or somewhere--Im giving my opinion as a N American who in the past has bought used shifters to fix old bikes, or used parts from donor bikes I was given, and 7spd stuff is very common.

Thank you for your answer. I am in Czech Republic and it looks like these particular ST-M560 shifters are not very common. There are some offers on European eBay but they cost quite a lot, so I am considering some cheaper alternatives. For example there is an offer from Poland right now for 135$ a pair + delivery, it's probably possible to buy the whole bike with such shifters for this amount. I will keep looking, maybe in some local bike stores etc.

good luck, and I would add that maybe you could be lucky, and opening the shifter and cleaning out the old thick grease may make it work again--unless it was damaged in a crash.
I dont know why you need to replace it, but sometimes a good cleaning can make them work again.

and yes, $135 for a pair of 7 speed shifters makes no sense......
but I realize that you are not in the same market as here.
Without knowing the import duty details etc, brand new 7 spd shifters can be bought cheaply here, so I dont see why you cant get them to Cz also, but anyway, good luck.

You have Canti brakes, so you need a short pull brake lever. Not a long pull like V brakes use.
This will work, but you need the 4 FINGER version only! You'll have to search carefully.
It will have a "4" in the suffix.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ZMBNMY/ref=dp_cerb_1

The 4 finger version can be used by either system by relocating a plastic plug as in the pic.

I have the same front shifter and it wouldn't shift to biggest ring. Tried wd40 to loosen up the mechanism but only after I used a heat gun (on low) did it finally start working again. Hopefully this will help somebody else out there.
