We need more info. What kind of brakes? What brand? What wheels? The more you tell us, the more we can help/

If they're rim brakes, try a toe-in. If that doesn't work, try a toe-out.

This very nice graphic from Park Tool shows how your brake shoes should be canted, with "toe in". You can adjust brake shoe toe-in if your brakes have convex/concave washers. If not, by bending the brake arms slightly. Easy does it! Or go to an LBS and have them do it.

A better description of what kind of brakes/wheels you have and when the noise comes will be helpful. Does it scream immediately upon engagement? Or does it scream a few seconds later only when you are engaging your brakes harder?
I personally do not like to toe in the brakes unless absolutely necessary. After toeing in, when the brake pads wear down, its as if its not toed in anymore. Toeing in/out the brake pads only work if the noise is coming from vibration. Did you just install new brake pads? Or are they the same brake pads that just started screaming recently? |
