Installing RS500 crankset question

I'm going to be installing a Shimano RS500 crankset. Can someone tell me where the small ring in the picture goes?

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Here is Shimano's manual "exploded view" of that crank. You should be able to identify it from there:


I expect it's one of two part #5 .
