Replacing Handlebars on FX4

Looking to replace the stock 2020 FX4 handlebars with the surly moloko bars for more comfort and I was wondering if that's an easy job to do at home? Only reason I ask is because it's my first bike with shifters and hydraulic brakes on the handlebar so wasn't sure if it's as easy as disconnecting and sliding off then back on. The guy at my LBS mentioned I'd need a torque wrench in order to disconnect/ connect my brakes?

Here is a link to my bike https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/b...colorCode=grey

As long as the stem clamp and brake/shift clamp diameters are the same as your present bars, and the shift cables and brake hoses are long enough you should be OK. Fortunately your stem clamp has a removable front plate, as your new bars cannot be slid through a single-bolt style of stem.

Pick any bars with that diameter, & there are machined shim sleeves to use 1" & 26mm center bars too..

NB 1.25" is 31.75mm

Do I need a torque wrench in order to reattach my brakes?

I guess my main question is in terms of unattaching/ reattaching the shifters and brakes...A guy at my LBS was saying since I have hydraulic brakes I'd need a torque wrench to make sure I don't over-tighten it and brake the fluid reservoir? But it looks like I just need an allenkey?

No. I've changed bars on multiple bike and I've never used a torque wrench.

I attach my brake and shift levers "race tight", that is tight enough to stay put under normal use but loose enough that they can be moved with firm hand pressure. In this way they will be able to move during a spill or crash and be less likely to be broken or to injure the rider.

a few decades on using that allen key so as to feel whats adequate cannot be transmitted into words,

that's why torque specs are in standardized numbers
