Left Campy shifter with Shimano R8000 Front Derailleur
Since the Campy left shifter is not indexed, shouldn't I be able to use it with any front derailluer? I am specifically thinking about using it with a Shimano FD-R8000 derailleur.

Since the shifter is basically friction, the only issue you might come across would be if the shifter does not have enough cable pull to cover the range needed by the derailleur.

Like dsbrantjr said the Campy shifter for the front derailleur is friction. Thats nice because you can just about use any front derailleur. I have a compact double crankset and I have my Campy front derailleur shifting nicely. It takes three clicks to move the chain from the small chainwheel to the large one. I forgot that it was friction, it clicks like the great Suntour friction shifters. I think you will have plenty of cable pull. They are designed to handle triple front chainrings.

They'll even shift a quad setup like a tandem daVinci drive.
Ultrashift levers from 2009-2014 will run a triple using 6-7 out of 7 positions and double with 3 or 4.
2015+ Ultrashift levers are double only.

G-spring levers from 1992-2008 have 12 positions of which 6 or 7 are used for triple cranks and 3 or 4 doubles.

Which exact Campagnolo left shifter do you plan to use? Some are pretty agnostic when it comes to the front derailleur, some are not. I have used a Chorus 9 speed front shifter with an early 1970's Record front derailleur with no problems. Newer shifters are much less tolerant than that setup. No way to know without you telling us what shifter you plan to use
