Bought the wrong speed tube!
Actually this was given to me but I'm screwed. Was going to use this on a 5 speed.

All because the people in the sales department of the tire and tube manufacturers won't use ISO sizing.
They have to think of creative ways to come up with a description of what it's intended for. Oh well! |
The correct ISO number for the speeds of a 3 speed bike is 3. ;)
|
Many 3-speed bikes use 650A (590mm bead seat diameter) wheels. A tube for that size won't fit well in a typical 559mm bead seat diameter tire.

I use these on my Raleigh 3 speed and other wheels that use 26 x 1 3/8 tires. I think they may be called 37-590 as well. Some Walmart's have them for 4.98 and I stock up when I find them and had good luck so far.

Well, shoot. That explains why I'm so slow. I just checked, and I've been using 9 speed tubes on my 10 speed bike.
