Micro spline hub backwards compatiblity?
Hi Everybody! Haven't found an exact answer to my question on the interwebs. I am building up a new hardtail frame with boost spacing and I need a new hub. I am able to get a decent price on a shimano boost hub, but it is micro spline. Is it possible to replace the micro spline driver with a standard HG driver? I was hoping to use my 9 speed cassette (for now) as I just purchased it and trying to use as many parts as I can from my current bike. Thanks so much for any input. Scott

Simple answer...no. It's a brand new system, utterly separate from the HG freehub style, also know as a 'closed design', like the SRAM XD units. It starts at Deore level and upwards in its 12 speed format. https://www.mbr.co.uk/news/shimano-d...2-speed-396733

Welcome Alway a little pricey to pick up the latest and greatest...I might up-grade in the future...say in 10-15 years time, when it's all retro

I hear ya Bob! Seems like every month a new 'standard' is introduced. I have 2 bottom bracket tools that are the same, only one has a larger ID in order to fit the larger octalink spindles. Then I bought a 3rd one for external bb! Same with cassette removal tools, and so on, and so on...don't get me started on press fit bb tools, lol!
