replacement chain for Shimano Deore XT 10 speed?

I bought this mountain bike used. It has a chain that says XTR and HG-X on it. Would this be the right spec?

SHIMANO XT CN-HG95 10 SPEED CHAIN

Also, does a 10 speed chain pin work on both the shimano mountain bike specific chains and road chains? I.e. are they generic to both?

Any 10-speed chain will work OK. I prefer chains which use a master link/quick link to close the chain over the Shimano special joining pin concept. You will still need a chain tool to cut the new chain to length.
