If thatís a crack and not a scratch...yeah. The bearing race could probably be replaced. But that crack puts your safety in danger.

I have no idea what the risk factor is here. I have seen the consequences of a fork breaking from a crack that started behind the HS. I lived thorugh: 5 days of coma and seizure. 7 years of recovery. Most doors of a profession that had been a life-long dream closed to me.

So a simple trade-off. Small risk. Potentially big consequences. You get to see the crack. Mine stayed entirely hidden by the HS race.

Before you buy a new one confirm it is a crack in the fork and not the paint. Remove the paint around the crack and remove the crown race to see where it goes. It looks like it cracked under there. Seems a strange place to crack.
Pull and twist on the forks and look for movement.

Don't ride that fork unless you are completely sure it's only the paint. That doesn't seem paint damage to me though.

I disassemble my fork once a year to check for cracks or other damage. A fork failure is a serious thing.
