noise/vibration while pedaling

Not sure if this has been addressed in another thread however today while cycling I started feeling a slight vibration in the pedals while pedaling. I can also hear some sort of rubbing sort of noise that also seems to be coming from the pedals I believe. It only happens when pedaling and get up a little bit of speed. I don't hear/feel anything while back pedaling or if I rotate the pedals by hand. Just after a few pointers on where to start looking to try and diagnose.

Its a specialized langster single speed bike. This hasn't happened before.

Make certain that your chain is not too tight. It should have enough slack at the tightest point (chain rings are always slightly eccentric) to move the chain up and down a few millimeters, and be able to move the slack from the upper to the lower run of chain.

Also make sure your chain is adequately lubed.

Also - have you had the rear wheel off for any reason recently? Strapped down in/on a vehicle?

I sometimes get strange noises while peddling too. Sometimes it is difficult to know where they are coming from. Sometimes I think it is the bearings in the pedals. This seems to come and go. Another noise seems to come from the back. It seems to be the chain going through the derailleur or around the freewheel. When something doesn't work any more, it will be time to do something about it. These noises are actually difficult to diagnose because they only happen while peddling under load. If I stop and turn the pedals by hand, the noises do not occur.
