Bottom Bracket
 

Hi all,

I’m currently restoring a 15 year old specialised. At the moment it has a square taper bottom bracket but I want to fit shimano grx 600. Does anyone know whether I can fit a grx crankset and shimano’s current BB standard to the bike?

Without more information about the frame, the answer is maybe. If the frame has a 68mm bottom bracket shell, the crankset will fit, but the crankarms and/or the chainrings may not clear the stays if its an MTB frame. If the bottom bracket shell is 73mm wide, the GRX crankset will not fit.

According to a quick search, it can use both BSA thread bearing cups as well as press fit bearing cups, so you should be OK.

Yep, need more info. GRX is made for bikes needing a wider chain line as in mountain bikes and the evolving cyclocross and gravel bikes. So if it's a road bike frame with 130 spacing on the back, GRX probably isn't the thing.

I'm wondering how this will work. I've never seen a threaded frame that works w/ a PF cup, nor the other way around. What did you search? Since the OP hasn't said anything about which frame he has this is definitely a stretch, and I'm gonna say your info is incorrect.

I think we had a misunderstanding, I thought we were talking about both types of bottom bracket working in one frame when we were talking about one crank being compatible w/ both types of bb, which is correct.
