Bike school

Greetings, just wanted to give an eye on my experience at UBI. I spent all last week in the intro to bike mechanics class at United Bicycle Institute in Ashland Oregon. I gotta say, i went in with no bike fixing/maintenance experience at all. I could change a tire and oil a chain , so when I got my brand new road bike and had to have a friend build it for me, it was kinda embarrassing. ....so, I got an intensive week in the major groups, how to assemble and maintain and did it all with my own hands. I would have never even touched a bottom bracket or disassembling a rear hub taking off all cogs. Wow, I can now!. The classes were great mix of lecture followed by each student doing everything by hand. Our main instructor was Jeff, fantastic instructor and the patients of a saint. we also had Emma, young girl but man she knew her bike stuff and helped me a ton!! I actually got offered a job at a local bike shop. I am gonna take them up and work a few days a week there..I am now considering going back and take the frame building class..if you are looking for a school on bikes, this is the place!

I am glad you did you did it, you must be chuffed!

I have done a ton of courses in my time, and I don't remember ever regretting any of them.

Go for the frame course, it will boost your confidence even further
