Chain fitting 1X drivetrain?

I am installing a Shimano GRX 1X drivetrain using 11/42 & 40T Crank and see both +2 and +4 links talked about when measuring from 42 sprocket.
What do you suggest.

There is sometimes confusion as to what is a "link." The +2 uses two complete links or four sections. Maybe the +4 is counting sections? Anyway, if you are using a clutch RD you may have more tolerance for chain slack. You could initially try four links and then remove two if you needed.

I would go on the long side as chain wrap is rarely a problem on 1x
