The other problem being there is no barrel adjuster on that lever. Probably wouldn't have worked anyway, you need that.

Could it have broken because i put it over the handlebar as opposed to taking off the grip and sliding it over the side?
Not a problem i have adjuster in brake itself.
Me personally i never like to adjust inside brake bcs its very unreliable.

Are you saying that you pried the clamp open to get it on the bar? Of course that's why it broke. I'm amazed that it didn't break when you pried it open.

You know that pressed steel calipers are not actually brakes but squeally vibration creators that just happen to also slow the bike when operated? I use them all the time - it helps warn people on crossings that I might not be able to stop in time, and my dinner is always served as I arrive at the table as wifie can hear my approach down the road.
