Hozan spoke threader won't release spoke

We bought a new Hozan threader for my shop and tried it out yesterday. The first one we tried got stuck between the rollers and pretty much had to be pried out. It would spin freely but the rollers wouldn't thread back off.

Once we got that one out we managed to thread a few, but the 5th one got stuck again and we currently cannot seem to remove it from the tool.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Is there a way to deal with this or is our tool defective?

Thanks

Not defective, the three heads need a little pressure at the start to keep moving forward. Otherwise they can start rolling a circular groove and can't release. I have found that the threader works well if it's held in my hand instead of in a vise, so that I can put a little force on the crank and the back of the threader to keep the heads moving forward at the start. After four or five crank rotations, there are enough new threads to keep the crank moving forward without any help. In the event that the heads do start rolling in a circle, the easiest way to release is just to back off the adjusting nut. This allows the heads to move apart from one another a bit.
