Changing Shift cables on '18 Diverge with inline adjusters & road bike shifters hard?

I've never changed shift cables on a road bike. I just bought a 2018 Specialized Diverge E5 with shift cables that pass through the frame. It has road bike shifters and inline adjusters. I dont even know how to find the shift cables on the shift levers.Do I have to undo the handlebar tape? On top of that I'm nervous about messing up the in line adjusters. I can't even picture how they work. Do they use special shift cables? Finally is the shift cables passing through the frame an issue? Really nice bike!

MY18 Diverge User Manual, English (specialized.com) Page 3 gives the cable routing special instructions. You will have to remove the bar tape if replacing the housing with the cables. Check some YouTube videos for changing shift/brake cables as it would take 2 pages of instructions here to give you every detail and would also need to know what shifters you have. Study the videos, plan to spend at least 2 hours for your first time, be patient, no drinking/drugs during installation and keep away any "distractions" (nagging, annoying people) You can do it.

I forgot to add. Take some photos of how your current cables are routed, (which goes over or under each other etc.) and how they are oriented under the bar tape. This can prevent hours of frustration during installation.

If the bike is that old definitely replace the housing as well, that's where all the wear that is detrimental to shifting performance takes place. Art's Cyclery and GCN both have YT channels w/ lots of great videos. Or if you have a local shop you like and trust you can have them do it and ask to show you how at the same time. People ask me to teach them how to do repair stuff pretty regularly, as long as we're not super busy I always help them out.

If it hasn't been ridden much why are you wanting to replace the cables?

It was my doing. I frayed the end of the cable when I was tuning it.
I was wondering, when a front derailleur cable makes a 180 degree bend at the bottom bracket , does it wear faster?

I can't remember having any wear problems with FD cables around the BB unless the surface of the BB shell was rough or the cable was rubbing on a guide. Most, but not all, cable fraying happens at the shift lever.
