Bottom brackets and aluminium frame

What is a general opinion on ensuring easy removal of bottom brackets from aluminium alloy frames?
  • Steel cups or alloy cups?
  • Use grease or anti-seize? Any recommendations?

Proper tools, either grease or anti seize and either steel or Al materials. Suggestions are to never let the bike see water or salt. Andy

Grease or anti-seize both work fine if applied rather liberally no matter what the frame or cup material. My personal preference is to wrap the cup threads in two layers of plumber's teflon tape and torque to spec. The tape seals the threads completely and makes later removal very easy. It's also a let less messy than anti-seize.

I use Tef-Gel on all dissimilar-metal joints, it is specifically desgned to hinder electrolytic corrosion in marine conditions: https://www.tefgel.com/contain.php?param=tefgel_infor

Tape only or tape and grease together?

Coat the shell's complete ID with whatever "lube" you wish. Some of the reason is to reduce any frame surface not otherwise painted with some sort of corrosion ******ant. Andy

"corrosion resistant"

Satire. No water or salt means no riding in anger or any real world I know of. A poor attempt to say how futile it is to ask about avoiding the evitable. Andy

In addition to grease or anti-seize, I do an annual maintenance and that includes unscrewing the cups. This really doesn't take much time and it exercises the threads.
