No, that's not the case. For the similar tier model, a new bike 2022 vs. the old one 2016 looks as follows:

- Frame and fork: 2022 model, similar carbon, around 200 grams heavier than 2016

- Wheels: Same brand, same aluminum, new version, 20-40g lighter

- Group set: Similar - Shimano Ultegra vs old Sram Force 22. Ultegra is a little heavier than Force 22 (no carbon parts)

- Brakes: disks vs. rims (some +150 EUR difference)

- Other components - newer type, not necessarily better, not even lighter

- Overall, around 1 kg heavier bike in 2022 than 2016

I can't see real improvements, apart from disks vs rims brakes and 20-40g saved on wheels (if you consider it as an improvement). All the other components for 2022 are a little below 2016 components (incl. frame and fork) and the bike is 1kg heavier. However, it costs 4300 in 2022 vs. 2400 EUR in 2016. I think that most of this difference goes to the profit of the producer, not in better quality and inflation. I would still choose the 2016 model vs 2022, even if the price would be identical for both.
