Confirming I can run this Shimano setup of mixed parts.
Looking to run ST-6510 shifters with BR-6600 brakes, RD-6600, FC-6600 and then the big question a FD-7700? Obviously as a 9 speed configuration. I can't find a compatibility chart showing this but I'm pretty sure it will work.
Looking to upgrade a beautiful bike that is being held back by the lowly Exage groupset. Rear dropouts take a 130mm wheel easily.
Been googling for 30 minutes but can't find a combo like this...
Thanks!

Yep, that’ll work just fine.

info... the Front Der. is also mentioned, and will work fine with 9sp.... if you swap to 10sp. in the future you may want to swap out the front der. too. https://www.roadbikereview.com/threa...d%2010%20speed.

Not sure the 6500 shifters will work with the 6600 RD. Everything else looks like it'd get along fine.

So based on comments above I got back into my stash to look for a RD-7700 since the RD-6600 is a longer cage. Realized I have a complete set of DA 7700 parts I could put on this minus the brakes. But I do have a set of BR-7800 so could really go this route. Dang decisions......
Whatever I use is going on this bike since it's pretty much mint and deserves so much better than the Exage stuff on it. I do have some Dura Ace hubbed wheels on it right now.

Shimano didn't change the actuation ratio of road groups until 5800/6800/9000 when they went to 11-speed.

Ok, just to wrap this up. Put this together throughout the day. Only change was using a RD-7700 I had on hand. Paired the parts with a SRAM 9 speed 12-26T cassette and SRAM chain. Everything seems to be working fine I just need to do some finishing tweaks and then trim and cap the cables and wrap the bars. Should come in right at 21 lbs even once I put on the bar tape.
