Is it not a normal Shimano-style cassette lockring tool?

I was thinking freewheel because of the spline length, but I really don't know. You may be right.

Both look like cassette lockring tools. Freewheel versions have shorter splines and could easily be confused with a cassette tool but can strip the lockring splines. Freewheel tool below.

fr 1.3. I've got pretty much all of the park freewheel tools, none Trek branded. lockring tools tend to have a shorter spline engagement depth on the tool itself. That item has both depth of socket and spline, so I'm thinking possibly freewheel.

I have seen wheels where the Park/Pedro’s/WolfTooth tool is not long enough to fully engage centerlock rotors. That may be Trek’s solution.

Should be fairly easy to check and see if it fits your cassette lock ring or disc brake lock ring if you have center lock brake discs. Or freewheel if you still have those.

Just remember it if you have no need of it right now. 20 or 30 years and you might be glad to have it. If you can find it! <grin>

Yeah, I hate that the freewheel and cassette lockring patterns are so close. Been there done that with the freewheel remover on a cassette lockring. I put a tag around the freewheel removal tool as a reminder!
