Shimano GRX/Deore/105 Set Up
Hi there! I made a stupid mistake when buying a new handmade wheel set that I just bought for my touring bike. It has a Shimano Deore t610 rear hub and I foolishly didn't check the compatibility with my 105 r7000 11 speed group set (it's a 7-10 speed hub)
I've been researching what I can do to remedy this and have come up with the below. If anyone could validate whether this would work or even if they've tried something similar that would be greatly appreciated!
1) Replace the rear cassette with a Shimano Deore XT 11-speed CS-M8000 cassette (I needed to replace the cassette anyway and I believe the 11-speed XT work with my new hub??)
2) I don't think my shimano 105 deraillier will cope with 11-40t cassette so was looking at swapping this to a SHIMANO GRX Rear Derailleur 11-speed (42T max low sprocket)
I'm hoping this derailleuer will then work with the MTB cassette, but also my 105 r7000 road shifters and gives me some higher gears which I'll need for my next tour!!

I think a 105 or Ultegra 11-34T without the spacer will work on your hub, and will allow you to keep all of your other components the way they are now.

There is a SRAM 11-36 that does a similar thing I believe.

It is the non-series cassettes, CS-HG700 and 800,11-34 that will fit on the 10 speed hub. The 7000 and 8000 105/Ultegra will not. You may have to search a bit to find one available. It is the CS-HG700 and 800, 11-34, non series cassettes that will fit on a 10 speed hub. The 105 7000 and Ultegra 8000 will not. I believe it is only the 11-34 in those non series that will work. Quick search and they are available at many sites, about $59, with that qualifying at some of the sites for free shipping.

Ah brilliant thanks for the help on this, not so silly a mistake after all then!
I'll check out for the HG700/800 as I can cope with a 34t max no problem
