Using old tubes

If you use old tubes for mounting items, found at Harbor Freight Self Bonding Super Tape (1"x10 ft).
According to package "forms a strong seal - even when wet}
Helped me when I needed a shim when mounting new computer.

I throw my old tubes in a pile and frequently use them for lots of things. But, I’m not quite following what you’re saying about using them for “mounting items.” How does the Harbor Freight bonding tape, shim, and computer related to old tubes?

As it relates to bicycles and clamped onto the frame items a flexible and dimensionally challenged shim stock like rubber can be a poor choice for the clamped item not slipping under various forces. But using tubes as a under the bar tape padding is a valid and preferential choice. Andy

We salvage old reflector mounts and use them as shims, Cutting them at the red lines in the picture. The remaining "C" snaps into place and stays there while tightening up the mounting screws of the device or reflector

I found that the tape holds better for mounting lights/computers. Even put the tape in place for my Greenfield Stabilizer kickstand and some under my bar tape for padding.
