Benotto plug replacement
Small question. Does anyone have any recomendation for an alternative to Benotto bar plugs? I recently taped some Bianchi Drop bars with the Benotto tape and the crappy Benotto plugs are waaaay to small. I tried using some other misc. plugs that I had lying aroud, but none seem to fit the rather large diameter of the bars. I am curios if there are larger plugs that can be purchased a la carte, or if anyone else has encountered this problem and what they did to solve it. I have checked around at different LBS and a few online shops with no avail. I am thinking about jammin some corks from empty champagne bottles in the bar ends. Any other suggestions?

Find a shop that has the old rubber Velox plugs. They have a screw that compresses them lengthwise, which causes them to bulge in the middle and lock in place. I have NEVER lost one of these, plus they are less likely to rip into your flesh than the fragile plastic ones that will shatter in a big impact and put a nice hole in your thigh.

thanks. Just as I had posted the question, I answered it. I found a shop that has the Velox plugs. I'll try those and hopefully that will solve the problem. Much better than losing hunks of flesh from my thighs. |
