Tiagra vs Sora brake lever feel
I own Tiagra 4700 on one bike, Sora R3000 on another with cable actuated brakes (TRP Spyre).
Recently I have put YOKOZUNA Reaction Brake Kit (houring and cables which are great) on both bikes .
The issue I have is that Sora brake level feel feels very smooth in its whole travel, while Tiagra lever still feels somewhat rough / spongy.
The only difference is that Sora has been ridden a little, while Tiarga has ~ 3 years on riding (not sure if this has any difference). Note that brake calipers and cables + housing are new on both bikes, I just mean Tiagra has few years of riding, while Sora barely any.
I cant really say how "new" Tiagra level feels like. Could this still somewhat rough / spongy feel of Tigra levers be because they are not new any more (compared to Sora)? Is there something you can clean (regrease?) inside the level itself to make it fell better?
Reach on both levers has been adjusted to max (which I prefer).
If it was the other way around, I wouldnt be suspicious since Tiagra is supposed to be better than Sora

With the cables detached from the levers and calipers do
1- Pull on each of the 4 brake levers. Is there any differences in the friction or free motion ov the different levers (I don't expect any),
2- With your hands/fingers squeeze the calipers so the brake pads contact and release against the rims. Any friction or free movement differences?
3- With your fingers move the cables through their housings. Any friction differences?
If you feel any differences doing the above that would be great and with all the parts independent of each other easy to diagnose the obvious. But often issues only show when the system is loaded. That's when poor housing end treatments (housing coil burred in against the inner cable or not square cut ends rock and move under pressure) or bad routing paths can make themselves known.
When I read of posters who say they installed new cables/housing but... its easy for me to think of the install steps and details not being up to snuff. But what do I know, not having the bikes in front of me. Andy

I guess these are disc brakes? If I had the symptoms you seem to be describing for the Tiagra and it was a cable pulled rim brake, then I'd probably think the pads were spaced to far from the rim and I'd turn the barrel adjuster to get the pads closer to the rim or reposition the cable in the pinch bolt. I'd think cable pulled disc brakes might act the same way.
And of course, you should make sure that your brakes are made to be compatible with the pull of the Tiagra 4700 brake lever.
