SRAM GXP crank fixing bolt washer necessary?
Is the SRAM GXP crank fixing bolt washer absolutely necessary? Wondering because I bought a fixing bolt kit that came with only the bolt and cap (but no washer), and when I install the cranks there is some play. Not sure if this is due to the splines being worn or if I'm just missing the washer.

I have the bolt and the cap; is the washer absolutely necessary?

Spent more time than I care to admit looking for a spacer that sort of matches. Confirmed it's a worn crank arm/splines, not the washer. With the washer there seems to be less play than without, but this is not objectively quantifiable.
