Shimano PD-6800 ultegra pedals - do they have the same bearings as newer pedals?

I'm tempted to hunt down a set (or two) of PD-6800 pedals - I have garmin vector 2 pedals that work very well but bearing kits are unavailable. Not a problem - I have the cartridge kit to use them with the PD-6800.

Do I really need to hunt down a set of PD-6800's or could a grab a newer pair of shimano pedals that have the same axle and bearings?

I know, very specific question but I can hope...
