Bottom Bracket Measurements (ALL of them)

I know the basic measurements are shell length, and axel length.
Over the years I've seen a few asymmetric sizes for folding bikes.

I have a 100mmx 155 bottom bracket that is somehow 10mm too short on the non drive side.
(it's a square taper)

It looks asymmetric but I'm not entirely sure.
I am also not willing to just purchase a 100x165 BB and hope the 10mm goes to the correct size.

The local shops don't have any 100mm BB's to physically compare.

So the question:
How to see/measure the axel offset and how would it show up on the part number(s)?

Measure the axle end to the BB face on both sides. The difference between the two sides is the offset.

Don't assume that a part number has anything to do with its dimensions. Now there is a labeling system that some tapered square axle making companies have followed, since BBs have pretty much gone to factory assembled units (called cartridge by many) this system is getting less and less used. Andy

Thanks Andrew.
I got bored and just took the thing apart and swapped the axel around.

Now it's mostly even. so.. go figure.
