6 speed cassette adapter?
I have a Shimano 6 Speed cassette on my bike and i'm looking to buy new wheels. However, everything i've seen thats affordable comes with an 8 or 9 speed hub. Is there anyway to put a 6 speed cassette on these wheels because I need new ones and I don't have the money to get my wheels custom built.
Thanks |
Sure, simple enough. Get the 8-speed and you can unbolt the cassette itself from the hub. Then install your previous 6-speed cassette and axle. I'll buy that spare 8-speed cassette from you. :)

I'm pretty sure that an 8/9 speed hub is going to have a 130mm axle, so you might not even be able to fit it into your frame (unless you can widen it- is it steel?)
I asked at my LBS how much a wheelbuild would cost and they told me $35. So going the custom option might not be all that expensive. |
