Very surprised there isn't some retaining thing on the NDS side to ensure it doesn't move laterally but maybe the thru axle being tightened up is enough. Until you take the wheel off the bike and drop the cassette on the concrete.

The narrow part of that plastic bushing goes inside the bearing on that side?

Very likely, I run a slightly high saddle and pedal toe down on the flats, and when I run out of gas on a long ride I get that on the left side.

Never had a cycling related injury, my left leg is 1/4" shorter than my right, and my left foot is one (American) size bigger than my right, my cleats are offset from each other a few mm, and it somehow has worked out. I could spin like the dickens, but my knees track a tad differently and each foot does it's own ankling thing, I think it's what YT bike fit culture now calls "compensating brilliantly". I've always just called it pedaling...
