Freehub body
 

I'm currently trying to service/replace the freehub that came with my aeromax alloy wheels I'm just trying to identify which body I would need for replacement if servicing it is futile it looks like a shimano I have a 7spd hg cassette on it now. Help please?

Generally freehubs tend to be specific to the hubshell interface, which tends to be manufacturer (note I don't say brand) specific. So, a Shimano FHB won't fit a DT hub, as example. However, there are many brands labeled on the same design series that a hub maker might offer to their bike or wheel brand customers. Of course this info tends to be held close to the chest by these brands and manufactures.

The quick on line search I did suggests these wheels are fairly low cost (under $150/pr) and entry level components are often not well supported by the distributers as their battle was won when the component was bought, not when it was used.

Tyr to find out the source manufacturer and then if that company has any small parts offerings. I would not hold out much hope but it's worth the try. Andy

There's usually no parts support for low cost components like these, so if you can't fix it you'll likely be looking to replace the whole hub.

If the freehub is Shimano and only 7 speed, with no spacer behind the cassette, there is a chance it is an RM30-7 hub. You can get a replacement freehub body. You should remove the axle and ball bearings and use a 10mm, I think, Allen wrench to remove freehub body. It should have external splines on the freehub body, but you can check pictures online.

If it is a not Shimano, you’ll need to take it to a shop, or figure it out looking online. There is a chance it is a Formula hub. You might have to find a complete hub and transfer the body.

You might be able to soak the freehub body in solvent, after removal, and see if the pawls free up and start engaging. I’ve done this and dripped Phil’s oil in after it dried out.
