Wobble caused by a defective tire?

I am newbie. When I asked LBS mechanic to fix the wobble problem of my bike that was bought 2 weeks ago,the kid(Those mechanics in LBS are local college students) told me the wheel is OK and the tire was not molded perfectly which is quite common. And he told me I am OK to ride it.
Granting what he said is true,am I really OK to ride on a defective tire? Or should I insist having it fixed?

A good LBS will make it right (if you bought the bike there). You should not accept that it is OK if it is bad enough that you feel it when you ride, if it was even cosmetic that soon after purchase, it should be replaced.

I brought in a bike with a faulty tire after a few months about 2 years ago at CyclePath in Hayward CA, and they replaced the tire free of charge.

I wouldn't ride it if I were you, I would fix it. I've had this happen to me, and I ended up messing up my rear deraileur becasue the tire tacoed on me. Better to have a new wheel than risk something bad happening. Just my $.02.

What kind of tire and where does it seem "lumpy"?

If the lump seems to be exactly opposite the valve stem try deflating the tire then push the valve stem inward toward the hub and try reinflating the tire again. My bet is that'll fix it.

I've maken an appointment to have the bike fixed (my local bicycle shop needs an appointment for repair like a autoshop).
And the lump is oppotist the valve stem. I'll try deflate the tire to see if it help.
Thank you guys all!
