Disc compatibility

My road bike uses 6 bolt rotors. Have bought some upgrade carbon wheels which require centre locks rotors so also bought some 6 bolt adapters. However, after fitting, the front adapter is rubbing the inside of the fork. Is the best solution to simply buy a new centre lock rotor and lock-ring? Any help appreciated

the likely answer is yes...buy a proper center lock rotor/lockring...

Adapters are just a bad idea. New wheels, new rotors. It also means you can keep the old wheels as a second wheelset, perhaps for tires designed for different conditions. I switch back and forth this way all the time. I shim one set of rotors so that both are positioned identically in the calipers, which facilitates rapid wheel changes.

Thanks both, I’ll crack on then 👍🏻

Some lockrings are lower profile and will fix this sort of problem.

Thank you

I would just get proper center lock rotors. I wouldn't really mess with odd adaptors, I know they exist and have existed for a while but I still would rather just get a proper rotor.

Depends on the adaptor. The ones that came with a set of one of my DT-Swiss wheels were low profile and work just as well as a dedicated centerlock rotor. I even used them on a *gasp* non DT-Swiss wheelset.

I would never adapt to use a 6-bolt rotor. Center lock or so much easier to attach.

Yeah, agreed. Recycle it.
