I think this is one of those things like taking your shoes off at the airport or using your phone while getting gas. It might be possible, it might have even sorta happened once, so let's make a rule for it.

I can't imagine the hamfisting that would be necessary to clamp a dropper so hard it wouldn't drop. Equally impressive would be the seatpost clamp that held up to that torque.
