The chain ring does not appear to have a bend to it. When I recognized the problem I went ahead and changed the chain. This is my first time messing with the chain rings so I do not have enough experience determining if it's actually worn out enough to create the problem I'm seeing. Since I've decided to go ahead and order a new chain ring I'll make sure to get a chain stretch checker tool to keep up the condition of my chain. I did check to see if the crank had come loose but all appear fine.
Thank you for advice.

Since I have removed the front derailleur the problem is not while shifting. When I place the chain on the outer chain ring it quickly wants to fall as I attempt to pedal. It's not clear to me if the problem is on a certain section of the chain ring.
Thank you.

Received the New (NOS) 46t chain ring from eBay and installed it. For testing, I left the front derailleur off the bike. The new chain ring worked perfectly. I was very pleased with the result.

Throughout the process of diagnosing the issue I received excellent feedback from many members. The helpfulness was more than I expected and with every post I had another lead to follow and in turn I learned more about working on bikes. I had moments of frustration but I’m very pleased I stuck with it. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to post any more detailed information.

Thank you all.

Mike
