Ultegra 6600 10sp double STI work with 9speed 105?

Will an Ultegra 6600 10sp left STI double lever work with a Shimano 105 9 speed setup? It is for my friends Cannondale as he semi-trashed his 105 left STI (double) lever in a stack. The 105 lever seems to work ok although cosmetically it is very ordinary. A fellow riding colleague has a spare (used) Ultegra 6600 left lever that he will sell for a good price if it will work? The bike has 105 9 speed Front Derailler, Crankset and chain etc etc

Thanks in advance.

It'll work if the 105 crank is a double.

Thanks Sydney, the 105 is a double. Are the STI levers preset with any settings or does it all depend on the FD?

Sorry but I have no idea about this sort of stuff

Does this mean it will still work? I imagine the only diff would be between 10 and 9speed chain width which as my friend is running a double shouldn't be that great right?
