New Dahon hinges have a little bit of flex but some hinge designs have more flex than others. If you stand next to the bike, put your hand on top of the hinge and push down on it, put a finger under the gap between the hinge plates, you can feel the gap increasing and decreasing a very tiny amount.

The new design with a cable actually reduces this flex because it is reducing the amount of bending on the hinge. And if you combine that with the newer jaws hinge type you cannot feel any flex at all. If properly adjusted.

That's new knowledge to me.:love: I never knew they had made upgrades to their cables.:bang: In fact, I've never walked into one of those Dahon shops to take a close look at or test-ride the bikes. Mostly it's because I know I wouldn't be considering buying one of these new bikes, so if I just wander around in the shop, the assistant might feel a bit annoyed.

Recently, I have been looking for a Bike Friday at a reasonable price. However, BFs are super expensive in our region, even secondhand. :D I wish I could come across one for around $300.:backpedal:
