Help with flat pedal pins
 

I recently bought a pair of MKS AllWays Easy Superior Pedals. These pedals have six "permanent" pins (apparently molded into the pedal metal) as well as six replaceable pins. I've used them for about three rides thus far. Giving my bike a quick inspection before the fourth ride, I noticed that one side of one of the pedals is missing all six of the replaceable pins. It doesn't seem likely that all six pins of only one pedal side happened to come off in only three rides, so it seems most likely that they came that way and I just didn't notice.

IAC, I'm searching for replacement pins but am having a hard time finding the right set. I found the following on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/326754382484. Besides what seems an excessive cost ($32.34, with shipping, for 30 pins?), it would take 2½-3 weeks for delivery from Japan. Surely there are US-based bike shops that sell these? But, Google and DDG are not helping me to find them! Anyone know where I can find these in the US?

I found pedal pin kits on Amazon for $10 for 20 pins and bolts. These are the type of pins my Chester pedals use but there are other types - without nuts - for about the same price.

i'd request a refund and return call tag for them from the seller, or take them back to a local shop you bought them from.

+1 for contacting the seller for new pins or pedal exchange and if no satisfaction, try contacting MKS directly. Since you mentioned you did 3 rides without noticing the pins were missing you might also want to try switching a pin or two from the other sides of the pedals as most have more than enough grip with so many pins in each side that switching around some may be an advantage.

Use red loctite when you put them back on. I used PL glue on one set that had set screws.

That's just it - I don't know. The eBay link I posted ("30 pins for Mikashima MKS M3 REPLACEPIN SET ALLWAYS + dedicated spanner") should be for my pedals (Allways) and it specifies that these pins have:

* height: 3.5mm
* width: 3.6mm
* hexagonal facing width: 5.5mm
* attached to the body with M3 screws

Many of the potential alternatives I've turned up either have different specs or don't even list specs. The first of the two results from your Jenson link are for "Foundation Flat Pedal Replacement Pins" which do not list any specs. The second Jenson result is for "Spank Replacement Pedal Pins" which specifies "2015 pin kit is compatible with all previous generation Spike peals and includes 28 each 4x9mm pins and 4 each M4 bolts", which doesn't seem to match my pedals (M3 vs. M4, and 4x9mm which, whatever that refers to doesn't seem to match the 3.5mm height, 3.6mm width, 5.5mm hexagonal facing width). So, neither seems to be a match but the frustration is that so many don't even bother to list their specs.

Screw a screw into your holes and see what threads they are.

Red? :wtf: If you use Loctite blue would be more than satisfactory.

M3 or M4 set screws with a smear of Blue Loctite work, and come stock on many pedals... they are available in various lengths, online, or at your local Decently Stocked Hardware Store.

some pedals use allen head screws with a nut jamming them at a desired depth...

pull the pedal, and take it with you when you go shopping.
