Microshift identification?
 

Got a bike in with Microshift 2x8 dropped bar shifters. Maybe a small hands version. Perhaps from 2012 or 2013. Needs hoods for the levers. How can I tell which model the shifter is and which hoods to look for?

Did you look under the hood for the model number? Near the base of the lever body, on the outside.

There are no hoods but the bar tape is covering the lever quite a bit. I'll peal the tape off and look tomorrow. Tx.

I am guessing all the exposed shift cable Microshift shifters, use the same body and same hoods.
Go search up images of Microshift R7/R8/R9 shifters currently sold, and compare with the ones you have. I am guessing they are identical. I don't think Microshift ever changed their designs (nor do they need to)

I pealed the tape off for inspection. The only marks I could find are the R & L on the back side of the brake levers. And the screen print on the front.

The left brake lever pivot pin had slipped out so the lever was very wobbly. I pushed it back in and it's better.

Microshift only makes one version of the multi-function levers for a 8 speed derailleur equipped bike. So just order the same. Unless the bike is a 8 speed IGH. They have a version for that too.

Don't know if they sell just the right or left. You might have to buy both. Make certain to get the correct set for the number of rings on your crank.


Unless pushing that pin back in has fixed things for you. Then you have time to consider your options. Maybe for several years. I wouldn't necessarrily be concerned about hood covers if you wear gloves.

Perhaps Microshift sells them. You'll have to look..... https://www.microshift.com/. Maybe a third party sells a close enough match if you can live with not quite a perfect fit.
