Need tips for using Stan’s Dart
I’ve had a puncture and used the Stans dart to seal it while out on the trail, but it didn’t work. I even put two darts in but sealant is kind of spraying out around the hole and not sealing. I even put additional sealant in the tire too, to try to flood it to no avail. Like in Stan’s Instructional video I have the puncture at the bottom So that sealant kind of floods around the dart to activate it but still to no avail I don’t know. Should I wait a few minutes? That does not seem wise. I inserted the darts as quickly as I could. Is there any other kind of little tricks of the trade to get the dart to seal appropriately?

So you're out for a ride right now? And are posting to the forum for help? Gotta love the idea.
I hate to break it to you, but I think you're going to be walking. I switched to Dyna Plug or Bacon because I never got a Stans dart to work on a mountain bike. They're even iffy on a gravel bike. The only thing they're good for is a sidewall tear. Otherwise, they don't have enough penetration to get to the inside of tire and umbrella out. Dyna Plugs are expensive and Bacon is cheap. Both work quite well. Hopefully you're not too far from the car. Good luck. |
