bike transport

hi,
i have just made some brackets for carrying my bike in the back of my ute tray.
The set up is similar to the roof rack setup. front wheel is removed and forks are fixed to a bracket with a quick release clamp. (no problems there). The rear wheel sits in a piece of angle. Here is the question
I've been told that you can just use a velcro strap here to attach the wheel to this angle(Channel)

Q. Has any one used this method of strapping and found it reliable, or should i consider something more substantial.

thanks for any help

Cheers from the Goldcoast
