creaky BB
so i just recently assembled my latest project and now, after a couple weeks, the bottom bracket has started creaking. it is at the same point on the revolution of the pedals, only under hard pedaling (i.e. starting from a stoplight or going up a hill). it happens when the left pedal is at the forwardmost point in its revolution. Any suggestions as to what this could be? thanks so much.

Are the cups torqued properly - usually they're spec'd to 30+ ft-lb of installation torque.
Greasing the threads or teflon tape on the threads may help, too.

You should consider all interfaces:
1. cup-to-shell
2. crank-to-spindle
3. pedal-to-crank
4. bearing ring-to-spindle
5. bearing ring-to-cup
Any of these interfaces may have metal-over-metal movement, or fretting, sometimes microscopic but still audible.
In my case of very loud creaking, it was #4. High strength Loctite solved it. In all the other cases, grease or anti-seize compound or teflon tape on the threads.

Same problem ... but with the right pedal (or at the left when it is at the back-most part of its revolution ) - Have you had any replies or luck diagnosing where your creak is from?
I'll let you know if my wrench gives me any good lovin' ! Cheers
