As some of you may rememer earlier this year, i had a problem with my crank arm coming loose. I brought it to my dealer, and found it was stripped, so they replaced. A little while longer, it came loose again, and at the same time i found the BB to be loose. SO i got that stuff all fixed up and there was no apprent damage. Now, 3 weeks later, i started to hear the creaking again, and the BB is loose yet again.

My lbs claims there is nothing wrong, and want me to just keep bringing it in, which is a huge inconvenience. So what should i do? There is one thing i recently thought of, does removing my crankarm loosen my BB? Let me know if this is true. I am currently thinking of replacing the whole crankset, and BB if i can't solve my problem.

If your BB is still good, no play and silent, i would try to secure it once with Loctite.
If this doesn`t help, buy a new one!
Probably the thread on the lockrings is bad,

i noticed the lockring came loose a few times, but is tight now, and there is still play in the BB.

With play, i would advice to buy a new one.

A Shimano UN-52 cartridge bottom bracket is a nice one to get, if you decide to pick up a new one. No adjustments possible or necessary, and they last quite a while. Probably about $30-35 at your LBS. Maybe they'll install it at a reduced price, since you've had so much trouble.

Removing the crankarms from the spindles doesn't affect the bottom bracket's bearing adjustment, so that shouldn't be an issue. Hope it all works out for you

Find another bike shop that knows how to do it right or learn to do it yourself.And forget that locktite BS!.Not needed and it creates more problems than it solves.If yer gonna get a cartridge type BB forget the un-52,spend a few more buck for a un-72.Your crankarm that came loose may be trashed, and if so never will stay tight.
