Are the Campy Record ISO standard BB's worth a damn?

I wouldn't mind getting a Campy Record crankset to match the rest of my components someday ( the Dura- Ace crank does look like an elephant nose!) but Campagnolo doesn't have any plans right now to go to an exo- bearing system.
Is their current B.B. good?

It's OK but I'd go with a Phil BB myself.

website? info? Can I use a FSA B.B. or any English threaded unit?

You have to use one with an iso taper, and 102 spindle length. I'd pass on the record CF and go with chorus.

Does the Phil Wood have that? What does ISO mean?

Basically,campy taper.

FSA makes a Campy compatiable crank with an external bearing BB.

Campy Record is the finest crankset and BB ever produced. Spline drives are an answer to a question no one asked, and external bearings are a solution to the problem caused by the answer to the question no one asked.

I believe he is refering to the aluminum version, in which case he is correct. Carbon fiber will have it's share of problems until it becomes a mature technology.

If you are talking about the BB you are correct. I was refering to the crank, which is made in aluminum and carbon fiber. My fault for not being more specific.

Wait a minute, the crankarms aren't cracking but the B.B. do? Is the Phil Wood one compatible?

This is a good deal for a new Phil BB:

http://www.lickbike.com/productpage.aspx?PART_NUM_SUB='0155-02'

I'm running one of these with a Chorus cranset and have an older (>15 yrs.) one on the mtn. bike. I'd run one of these over any Campy BB anyday (and I'm an utmost Campy snob).

Don't forget to buy the rings.
