When I am on my large chainring and stand up to sprint or climb a hill, my chain hits the front derailuer on the downstroke of my right foot. I can see that the frame is flexing and this is the problem. Since I cannot make my frame stronger, can I adjust my derailuer? How do I move the "limit" over?

I don't see why this is a problem other than a little noise?

It's more than just a little noise. It is loud enough that it almost sound like grinding, to be honest I am not secure sprinting because I think the chain will skip or pop off.

turn the high limit screw counter clockwise a half a turn at a time ?

But realistically, aren't Felts like 20 or 21 lbs ?

and you are 190 ?

if you are also tall, then the frame would likely be pretty big like 58 to 63 centimeters and that means the triangles are long and big too. they are gonna flex pretty hard on the hills . Especially when you stand up to crank hard and sprint. Even if you are not tall, heavy weight people on lightweight frames are prone to flexing.

You are in a no win situation maybe.

Big, heavy, strong male human on a thinwall tubed ultra light bike is a recipe for lots of flexing. I'd be surprised if it doesn't creak and groan and eventually crack after relatively low mileage under that stress.

The frame weighs what ? 3lbs or so ? and you weigh 190 ?

It's going to flex more than your deraileur adjustment can handle. Once you get the deraileur to stop rubbing under the flex, then you could throw the chain off the front chainring and smash the family jewels on the top tube right before you crunch your chin on the pavement.

Now , since I am but a MUPPET, and since I weigh very , very little, I am a perfect candidate for an ultra lightweight, 7005 alloy thinwall tubed bike like a Felt. plus, I am very very short, and that means that the frame triangles are very small and those short tubes are stiffer and flex way less when I (King of all Muppets) ride, outta the saddle, even under the load of my tremendously powerful frog legs. I could ride a small framed 16lb bike and whip up hills with no derailleur rubbing at all.

I suspect that you are more than your ultralight bike can handle.

There is a Jedi muppet master on this forum who knows all, sees, all and despite his extremely diminutive size can levitate into the postion required to see the exact deraileur adjustment, discern your specific deraileur model, make, brand , country of origin , cold forged aluminum standards and precise phillips screwdriver size required to make the neccesary mods
that you request.

However, his advise comes at a cost, and that that cost is that you too must become a "MUPPET" to recieve his wisdom.

I will summon him for you....

Oh great god... Master of Muppets, please bestow you wisdom and disregard any "Nonsense" that has been spoken here.

Sydney B. , calling Sydney B. come in please........
