BB overhaul came out with different cover on non-drive side?

So I took my older trek 460 in for an overhaul on the bb and it turned out great - performance wise, but the outer piece/bb cover? is different. Instead of the chrome cover, I now have a plastic ring, not a cover, an open end look. Not that Im to upset, but I have a vintage univega decked out in all dura ace and I dont want to face something different than the original hardware? Does this seem odd? The bike is honest, but they might not care about saving this or that. Just thought I would check before taking it in.

If the 460 had a cup and ball Bb they may have just replaced it with a cartridge type.Plastic lockring on a cartridge BB.Nothing new there.Cartridge BB don't get overhauled. The cup and ball type in the univega can be.You want to preserve it make sure they know that.

Sounds to me like they gave you a cartridge rather than overehauling your old BB... Is this correct? Do you know the difference by looking?
