11t or 12t cassette lockring.. does it matter for a SS conversion?
I'm converting an 8-speed freehub to singlespeed, using one cog and a bunch of spacer or maybe PVC pipe.
I need a cassette lockring to hold it all on... does it matter if i get an 11t or a 12t lockring?
Thanks!

If you are talking Campa, yes. The 11t cog only takes the 11t lockring.

The only difference between an 11 cog and 12 or more cog lockring is the outer diameter. The 11 is (obviously) a bit smaller. Either should work with your ss setup.

If you're using a single cog from a cut-up cassette (as opposed to a single speed specific cog), you may have problems over time with the cog digging into the freehub body. It may be worth investing in a specific single speed cog with a wider base, to reduce the risk of this happening.

^^ Thanks, i was warned about that by others. Luckily the freehub body is steel, and i scored an aluminum Chris King BMX cog on eBay for $11, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Incidentally, i found this great piece of free software called JBidWatcher. It's written in Java so it runs on many platforms (i use it with Mac OS X). Anyway, among other things, it will automatically bid for you at a specified time before the eBay auction ends. 16 seconds before the end has worked well for me. 14 seconds, and the bid did not get processed in time!
